Drought in Montreal

Drought in Montreal: Herbert Molson and Battle for Beer

Too few today remember the dark days of Canada, when prohibition’s shadow spread over the land, claiming one province after another. This is the story of Herbert Molson and his brave battle against extra dry politicians and psalm singing sober clergymen in post WWI Montreal. Molson returned from the fields of France to once again take up arms against a new form a totalitarianism that would rival the Kaiser: petticoat bureaucrats and their embrace of the new dry regime.

A Film by Josh Bird, Rhiannon Bourassa, Alison Dolan and David Meffe.
